Caesar: So you didn't get anything for Christmas? Huey: By choice. I neither gave nor accepted a single gift. I refuse to be in any way a part of the crass consumerism of this holiday. Caesar: Wow... that's really admirable. Huey: Thank you. Caesar: So I guess this means you'll be coming over to play my new GameCube. Huey: If you don't mind. I'll bring a sleeping bag and toothbrush.

I’m not as hard core as Huey, I give gifts and ask to not receive any. That started when my kids were little, my wife and I didn’t get each other anything. We didn’t have much money, so we only got gifts for the kids. I feel uncomfortable getting gifts for any occasion.

My wife loves to give gifts but my needs are simple and my wants are either few or they are electronics costing way more than we can afford. So my wife asks what I want for a gift and I have to say, nothing, which drives her nuts.
