    There has to be teaching in order for homework to mean anything, Susan.

    The only “teaching” that’s done since no child left behind is how to pass the state and federal tests so the schools get more $$.

    Not only that teachers are going to have a harder time. Due to states budget crises some schools have to consolidate meaning more layoffs and more over crowding. Not sure when this will happen. In the local paper gave some local schools as examples. My own kids when they where young went to one of those small schools. Kids need homework or they loose out on what is being taught. To prepare for tests.

    Mom taught for 41 years at the same school. She’d be shocked at all the “business” attitudes involved in education today. Trying to make nice little bots is much easier than actually teaching them to think. At least the rich folks still have their private schools to give their kids the safety of privileged education and the opportunities it affords. Everyone else has trade schools. And their ladies on TV to keep them happy. :)
