Aww this is cute! I once heard from my elder daughter something similar, comparing me to her friends’ moms, one of whom expected nothing but top grades and got mad if the daughter didn’t excel at everything, the other mom hardly cared how she did in school and left her mostly to herself. I was the middle ground, caring enough but also making the kids grow their independence. Turned out just fine :D
I know from personal experience that nothing makes you appreciate your own family more than spending a weekend at a classmate’s house. (and oddly enough, my friend thought the same thing after spending the next weekend at my house)
