I would drop my kids off at the library or bookstore, while I ran errands. I knew they’d have their noses in books, and at least had a restroom available. Made all of us happy.
If the kids aren’t old enough, they can and will be reported as abandoned. And the library is a public place. Would you drop your pre-schooler or even pre-teen in another public place like a mall for several hours? Well, the librarians are not there to watch your kids. They are there to do their jobs.
