State of Oklahoma recently enacted tax increases on cigarettes to be able to pay teacher salary increases among other things. I drive a delivery truck and deliver cigarettes among other items. My $50,000.00 days have dropped to $39,600.00+. My $20,000.00 days have dropped to $13,333.00. What the state legislators fail to register is people will simply drive out of state where its cheaper or quit entirely, and then the taxes go to another state or just peter out. Still have the same problem. A slightly better solution is to start weaning the non-working population off the free ride and get a job. Notice I said NON-working, not UN-able to work!
