Chepe: Did you know popcorn is from Mexico? Europeans learned about it from Aztecs. Then why don't we see any Mexicans in the movies? Pepe: They're making the popcorn at the snack bar.
Pre-popped, 50 gallon bags at my cinemaplex, loaded into the concession. I suspect they sweep them from the floor and bags from the trash… I found a broom straw in my bag one time.
In general I agree with you, especially since the business model in the US film industry is to make bigger and bigger effects-laden extravaganzas. How many people actually went to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for its human cast? And yes, more end runs would be great. There are more and more ways to get stuff made and out there. The problem is in figuring out how to get large numbers of people to see them, and the big studios are still pretty good at that. Which is to say, it’s good to put pressure on the studios to get them to show what you want, but it’s also feasible and important for folks to go out and create their own stuff as well.
Perhaps one would see more Mexicans in the movies if the movies were made in Mexico…? Around here there are more than Spanish-speaking people working at the popcorn concession…such as teenagers (in general) and older men (in general). I’m assuming the two guys are being sarcastic…

I read that a Luchador opened his own nude beach resort, masks optional. It looks like the idea might take off…
