Bug Blog by Cuco Rocha U-S-Ain't "Taxed Enough Already." Bundy Rancher cattle grazing fees. Murrieta anti-child refugee protesters. Funny how PATRIOTS suddenly become uninterested in America as soon as it's time to pay a bill.
Awww, the poor rich people, who already own the bulk of everything in this country, being driven to go overseas so they can become even richer. My heart bleeds for you.
indie is lacking in all those things, as are folks like Jmca, Jeff, and others of their ilk. Their heads are stuffed full of Ayn Rand and can’t seem to hold much else.
Jeff, you are completely full of it. There is plenty of manufacturing in the US, including large amounts (still) of auto manufacturing, robotics, furniture, and everything in between. And Apple is expanding its manufacturing base in the US. Your complaint about taxes is either ignorant or disingenuous, as Germany has both a higher corporate tax rate and higher average wages, including manufacturing wages, for less hours worked. And what fees, pray tell, are being hiked? What corporate taxes are being hiked in the US? Oh, right, California’s raised some of its taxes, and its business sector is on a growth trajectory, in part because they benefit from a whole lot of what taxes get put into. Anyway, care to tell us (truthfully, not like some Joe the Fake Plumber) what you plan on manufacturing? It’s not by any chance radioactive pacifiers, is it?
Seeing as Alcaraz hasn’t draped himself in the flag or in the term patriot, you’re basically attacking him based on your own made-up phantoms, indie. There’s no implication that he’s a patriot; just that those who wrap themselves in the flag are, very often, hypocrites. Maybe that’s too subtle a point for you?.And by the by, Jim Crow, slavery, etc. were the law of the land for a long while and there were a good number of folks who defined themselves as patriots who struggled mightily against those laws (including by breaking them). By your logic, MLK Jr. wasn’t no patriot. I mean, disagreeing with any law on the books means you’re not a patriot, right? Right?
Just as in the 20th, there were all sorts of other racist laws, and people “had” to observe those too, no? Speaking of which, it’s the law that you have to pay fees to graze your cattle on BLM land, but the “patriot” Bundy both refuses to follow this law and simultaneously bizarrely denies the legitimacy of the federal government altogether. That you would condemn Lalo without even acknowledging Bundy (who’s right there in the strip!) is just one more demonstration of how not serious you are.
Depends on WHAT bill… Oh, I finally wandered over to the VOX website to check out what they had to say about the inundation of our border by undocumented children. I was expecting an hysterical diatribe…instead found a neutral presentation of the news story. One could almost say it was a scholarly website…nice.
@ORMouseworksGlad you got a chance to check out the Vox article. My policy is when I really want to know about something, I look for sources of information that are relatively neutral, or at least check out multiple sides on an issue. Any links I post here will follow that pattern..A note about the “inundation” of the US border: the numbers of unauthorized immigrants crossing the border have drastically dropped (by about two-thirds) since 2000. And people claiming refugee status are by definition not illegal. They may eventually have that status denied and be deported, but until then, according to the Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, a treaty to which the US is a signatory, they are not illegal.
You do manage to get a whole lot of words in edgewise, upwise, downwise, and especially unwise, indie. And you have admitted in the past to be on a campaign to eliminate La Cucaracha from your local paper. I’d say that’s a bit more than “taking issue.” But if you say you don’t hate Lalo the person, well, that’s a bit of a relief anyway.
