    That would be a really old lady plugger, in her 80’s or 90’s now.They also were kept i bed for days, until docs noticed the new moms were getting blood clots from being inactive. Then things changed. Now you’re booted out the door right fast.

    Then her husband carried her in from the car for another 7 days of ‘bed rest’.

    In 1962, when my first child was born, I was in the hospital for 3 days, and that was only because he was very premature. By the time my second was born, I got to only spend 2 days in the hospital. It was a vacation before what was to come.

    Hospital? People go to the hospital for a childbirth?.Hrmph!

    A decade or more ago, Jeff Foxworthy was noting that the max stay at most hospitals post-partum was six hours. “Six hours!” he cried, “It takes longer to make chili in the crock pot!!” My wife had her knees replaced about 13 years ago; each knee required a week’s stay in the hospital. A friend of mine had a knee replacement last week; he was home within two days.
