On top of that when a genuine person gets elected accidentally, we realize that they are a genuine person and proceed to denigrate them for it. We don’t want normal people to run anything, we prefer to believe that they are superior, and they are willing to pretend that they are because they want the job.
An honest man will never make it in politics. Not only would his enemies destroy him, his former friends would believe whatever the press wrote about him. So what if there is no evidence to support whatever charges he would face?
