Why doesn’t Jon just get a inedible fish? like the incredibly sharp and poisonous puffer or lion fish? I know saltwater fish can be more expensive but it has to be cheaper than buying 100 goldfish!
John needs to get a Piranha. Controlled, yes, but the fun to see Garfield deal with the problem of teeth. Even a Gar would work. Maybe even a Snakehead would work.
