My BA is in philosophy, and I did fine. But I got it 40 years ago. Tougher now. Still, studying philosophy is useful for developing analytical skills. It’s not easy.
The local university has a glass blowing shop. I was talking with one of the art students, and she said it takes her about 2 days to do a piece: mostly elaborate vases and bowls. That works out to about 125 pieces a year. If you want to make just $15,000/yr, you have to charge $120 each piece. Yeah, it’s no wonder our economy is in the toilet.
The only degrees that I can think of more useless than a Philosophy or Art degree would be:Gay and Lesbian StudiesWomen’s StudiesBlack StudiesHispanic StudiesThese are little more than academic masturbation.
