It’s a bit of a balancing act. Both styles fall in the ‘loose brush inking’ category, but the styles are quite different. Making them meld is the fun challenge.
An earlier strip from 2013 strongly suggests that Maria is already well aware of Calvin & Hobbes, and has had a dream about Hobbes. Our excuse? It was out of chronology! Clearly this week’s strips happened first. It’s a comic strip- it could happen…
