Man: Hope! I Hope I do something of value well. I hope to do something of value well and be fairly paid. I'd like to be paid for doing something of value fairly well. I want to be valued and paid fairly well for doing something. I deserve to be paid well for doing something of no value! I demand to be paid obscenely well for destroying value! Always hold on to your values! A banker's progress

this about sums it up. not everyone fits this stereotype, i’m sure, but too many do seem to. (guess that’s how it got to be a stereotype.)

He morphed into the “Amazing Business Man”, who’s super power is the salary of 10,000 other men.

It was a classic credit boom & bust, California Oak Tree. It was caused by politicians and bureaucrats pushing bank officers to make loans they shouldn’t to people that couldn’t pay them back. All three groups share equally in the blame.
We are still bailing out FannieMae and FreddieMac and they are government controlled organizations.

Joe-Allen, banking was mentioned - see the 3rd panel - a banker’s progress.
Not to pick on any one group, i thiugh it was a good analagy of how we change and grow. You start with one idea and as you experience life, it changes. All perspective. Fortunately, not everyone turns out greedy and cynical.

Hey Joe-Allen……obviously your genius status didn’t give you the ability to read. Panel three of todays strip clearly states “A Bankers Progress”

@benbrilling Actually, “Mother Theresa” had quite a lot in common with modern bank CEOs. The fact she’s revered as a saint is a testament to the RCC’s ability to pull one over on 1/3 of the world’s population.

Hey Susan, maybe crappy commencement speeches lead to the cynicism.
Gen. Westmorland spoke at my High School graduation, and look how I turned out.

MBA= Mostly Baseless Assumptions- bogus but profitable degree.

My local university includes the “Katz School of Business,” and every morning I hear on the radio that I can get my Katz MBA in as little as 9 months.
And I always wonder what the heck my cat needs an MBA for!
Someone must have pointed it out, because they recently changed the wording to “your part-time Katz MBA.” Sorry, I only have full-time cats!

@ Joe-Allen Doty i have no doubt that donations lead to honorary degrees in more than a few instances, but i also fail to see the harm, since an honorary degree has no real value.

From yesterday; @ Delta Eagle, CA_QUERCUS and Frisco Lou;
Man, you folks are tough. You’re right, Commerce, not Treas. We took him to the airport in a chopper, there he loaded into the plane and met his fate.
Not sure how this makes me some kind of liar. Folks make mistakes. The point still is valid, Ron Brown and many others died trying to help their country and their deaths deeply affected not only their family but those who had only briefly known them.
Frisco - thanks for the slam on my Bosnia service. I hope your own was more spotless than mine apparently was. I don’t need to make up stories, just need to make sure I tell my own right.

Shouldn’t Toyoda-san have put knife to gut by now, in the Ancient Japanese Tradition of Hara-kiri?

Trudeau erred with the computer monitors–they would not have been flat panels in this guy’s younger days.
