Those new light bulbs aren’t as bright and last no longer. Just another liberal, democratic ploy to separate more money from the people and to condition people that it is ok to have the government dictate and control even the most mundane aspects of your life.
I don’t like CFL’s. It takes longer from getting an idea to getting a bright idea. You could freeze to death trying to get a thought outside in winter. My mind is a dark blank until LEDs are less than $10 each.
@Don Fleming-It was actually an act by Congress that phased out our ‘Edison’ bulbs in favor of the original ‘swirly bulb’. EPA didn’t come up with this. That means, realistically, that the reason for this has more to do with heavy lobbying by the industries producing swirlys than it has to do with saving electricity or the environment. Most of the bulb production now is overseas or in Mexico, and most of the plants have switched to LEDs or CFLs. It is increasingly difficult for those of us with old three-way lamps that don’t seem to accept ‘swirlys’ to find the old bulbs, but Target still carries some.-FishDog, as far as this being a ploy by a particular political party, I believe that the support of this law by Congress was bipartisan. It passed some time ago, though, so it would be hard to be certain without going through the research. And I don’t have time for that today.-For those of you who find the swirlys to be ok, please let me know where you’re getting them. Mine don’t last longer than 1 year, and I’ve had several actually explode, so had to have help cleaning up the contaminants.-Thanks to Nun ‘Ya for alerting us to the fact that some Home Depots collect them for disposal; I’ll look, but I don’t think the ones in Central Florida do. Florida does not have a single hazardous waste disposal permanent site, to the best of my information.
Sorry Guy, but that joke has been used quite a bit already and is passe not to mention that CFL bulbs are available that look exactly like incandescent ones.

Didn’t think I’d live long enough to see the day that marijuana is legal and light bulbs aren’t.

Old joke. Crankshaft modernized his bright idea bulbs several years ago.

I’m sorry, Nancy, but it looks like the new bulbs are going to give you a twisted mind. :(

I hate replacing bulbs. Since I started using swirlys, I spend a lot less time atop ladders replacing bulbs.

My condo. complex uses the new bulbs for lighting out side and from what I see, they don’t last for a year. Let alone seven to ten years.

So true. What was it Reagan said were the scariest words in the world. I’m from the government and I’m here to help.
