When my mother-in-law moved into her assisted living apartment she had a guest room that was occupied by one or another member of the family almost constantly. She loved the fact that she didn’t have to cook or clean for guests. She’d just hop on her little electric chair and head down to the dining room at mealtime. And…the establishment discouraged visits from very small children. A nice perk :)
When my youngest was about 2 years she hated sitting in the highchair but it was convenient for me. One day she was protesting being in the highchair and she told me “When I get big and you get small I am going to put YOU in the highchair!”
My daughter once told me she was either going to run away from home or report me to Children’s Aid. I offered to pack her bag. She never made those threats again.
“Actually, they mean the kind where the sub-minimum wage workers leave you to wallow on your bed-sores in your own filth while they steal your portable valuables to make enough money to feed their own children for another day.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Welcome to Florida. The ‘home’ where my mother died will LONG remember me and the ensuing cleanup of the management and its care of its ‘clients’…
