Mom you did great explaining but Joe you are wrong.
I remember small town little hamburger place sitting at a table eating there were two guys came in I had good view another table two women was sitting also I had good view. The two women was talking in sign language and the two guys was mocking them. Before I left I frowned had words with them got on to them the guys acted dumb. The two women knew what those guys was doing and thanked me for what I did.
The two young men did act dumb they did not understand what I was talking of as before using their hands and talking mocking the two young women. Those two young men was mocking the two women one I think was deaf then.

Not exactly the same, Joe, but it’s good to see that you have some empathy…

I wonder what they’re watching, since this scene is familiar from a book I read once. Tell Joe that it would be as if his tongue were plucked out.

Guess Joe’s too much of a novice to type with more than one finger.

That would almost be as bad as the Italian side of the family getting a hand injury.

Would this also mean most people I’ve met from New Jersey and parts of New York would be rendered mute?

This is a great strip! Next time you want to tell someone “I can relate,” please come back and read this comic.
Thank you, Rick Detorie, for a concise and simple example of how insensitive and just plain stupid it can be to claim you know another’s pain.
