I have always pitied subs. They’re walking in to an unknown situation and they get little respect from the students. Ruthie has a point because I don’t think I learned as much in class on those days.
I remember a few substitutes back then, teacher leave notes on lesson’s and what to expect on students.I missed 3 days of comics I was away no lap top, smart phone or tablet. Had fun being gone. For Sunday Ruthie for being bored you got busy while dad looked at trains. I would not carry you.
I never understood why kids thought it was ok to give the sub grief. However, there was one sub everyone liked. He was an elderly retired teacher. Instead of teaching the subject, whatever it was, he spent the time telling the story of Jean Valjean from Les Misérables. Since most of us had never read the book, we really enjoyed it.

In today’s strip at Creators.com and at Arcamax.com, something you wouldn’t have seen in a comic 40 years ago.
