When I was a kid, I thought we all got here via ancestors on the Mayflower. I understood that that’s how the country was founded. Further immigration after that hadn’t occurred to me.
Funny, I thought Roanoke and Jamestown were the first English settlements, before the Mayflower. Of course this leaves out the Spanish settlements that also came before.

There weren’t any laws concerning immigration at the time, so they weren’t illegal immigrants. (They did, however, turn out to be invaders.)

For my family or relatives unknown if came by Mayflower. I do not know from husband side my my side how we revolved.
