At about three or four years old, my daughter witnessed a successful performance and decided to try it too. I picked her out of the shopping cart seat with a hand over her mouth. We went to the car for a discussion of the effectiveness of the tactic. Maybe four or five times for the rest of her childhood, I might ask, “Do you want to go to the car?”, but never any full blown attempt again.
