Never had to deal with a musical lid on the cookie jar, but I was a bit slow figuring out that full jars and nearly empty ones require permission to use. Mom can plainly see that some have been removed in both cases. Thieves should stick to middle of the jar raids. Or, make sure that Dad is obviously having cookies right now.
My mom still has the glass cookie jar with the steel lid that makes a distinct sound when opened that she bought back in the mid-70s. (Looks like the jars used in candy shops). There is no way you can open it quietly, and I think that was the point. :-P

Seeing that cookie in the title panel gives me an idea for what to get at the grocery store!

Do they make cookie jars that don’t make noise? I wouldn’t think they’d sell too many.

We didn’t have a cookie jar when I was a kid. My mother didn’t believe in keeping sweets around.
