I see the President is going to send a trillion and a half of our money to keep Wall street afloat so tell me again why we cant afford healthcare for all?
I spend about that much a month just on prescriptions. Fortunately I live in Canada so I don’t have to directly pay for doctor visits as those expenses are paid for out of the general pool of tax revenue. If I had to pay both i’d either be living on the street or rapidly succumbing to the progression of diabetes as I would have to choose between paying rent, food or medication/medical bills.
I am still paying for dr. bills and hospital bills for my husband who passed away in January and I HAVE insurance. But I have to admit that if I DIDN’T have insurance, my daughter and I would probably be living with my sister, her husband, my mom, my niece, her fiance, the dogs, the cat…..

For the original way I heard that joke, replace “Used to be” with “Back in the old country”.

because it would take about 60 trillion to do that and since the top 1% don’t pay taxes the middle class would be paying for it.
