Not college guys, but high school kids saving for college…big difference in job opportunities. To save for school, my husband worked (one summer) as a go-fer for a carpenter. .
Isn’t this strip a put-down to those who ‘like country music,’in other words, hillbillies, hicks, country-bumpkins..Whenever someone denigrates ‘country folk’ to me,I point to our beautiful dry-stack retaining walls which were built by a stone mason who drove two hours to the DC suburbs everyday from the mountains of West Virginia,or,I will show them my collection of elegant American glass, made in WV or Ohio, western Maryland, Arkansas..Not a fan of country music, myself, but I don’t discriminate against people who like it.

College guys? Most of the roofers around town I see are Mexicans in their 40’s and 50’s.
