You know what the bad thing about having a bully of a PE teacher like this is? Michael can tell his other teachers and his parents about him all he wants and they’ll chalk it up to youthful exaggeration.

One thing they haven’t done is dignify this bully with a name. It’s always “PE teacher” or “this guy”..I don’t remember this sequence, but I hope he gets found out and fired before some kid is injured.

The P.E. teacher’s responsibility should be to toughen their bodies not their minds.

Yeah everyone seems to be mad that he’s making the kids exercise so hard.

I too think he’s doing his job. If parents would quit mollycoddling their youngsters the obesity rate in children AND adults might not be so high. And furthermore…I just don’t buy into this notion that the PE teacher is somehow perverted. Those that think that way are disrespectful of the profession. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

ooh lets beat the tar out of kids, that’ll make them listen. yea like obesityis because of mollycoddling. lol. living in the world of fast food and sugar bombs creates obesity. that’s about the only thing that has changed. not mean egotistical idiots like this PE teacher. the abuse of kids for sadistic pleasure isn’t healthy either.

At my school, our PE (they actually prefer ‘Kinesiology’) program offers a wide variety of activities beyond the standard running, including archery, volleyball, bowling (on the PE field with plastic pins/balls), gymnastics, etc. The kids are (for the most part) enthusiastic about these classes (which include homework — writing about rules, strategies, teamwork & sportsmanship and such). We have a flag football carnival in November and Track Meet in May – major events that generate a lot of school spirit.

I have had teachers like that, both PE and other classes. After almost 50 years out of school, there are still subjects that I hate because of it.

Back in High School, there was one particular P.E. Teacher who was beloved by all. He was tough, but at least he was cool about it. Not like other secretly evil teachers I can think of……One day he needed an operation overseas. He never made it back. The entire school cried. Groups of kids huddled together in tears. The school held a separate funeral so the church funeral would not be overcrowded. He had an entire page dedicated to him in the yearbook. The school set up a scholarship in his name.…Now that’s what I call a legend in his own time.

I was one who was never very good at sports and hated PE. If I were in charge of PE, I’d lean a little more on the E. In addition to exercise, I wish my PE teachers had taught us about the different muscles — how they work, how they’re being strengthened by the exercises we’re doing. And I wouldn’t hire gym teachers who were obviously frustrated drill sergeants who couldn’t tell the difference between military recruits and school kids.

Do you realize PE teacher does supervise the lockeroom? They can’t just leave them running around unsupervised especially while changing clothes and showering. Have to make sure there is no funny business going on.

Nun’Ya Bidness: Running and hiking can be done barefoot, as was demonstrated at the Rome Olympics marathon. I mentioned this earlier, but the censor got to it before I came back for my final read-through.
