Now and again there is something that I would call the Nanny impulse, and I guess this is one example. (Though if I had a child who had choked on a hot dog I might feel otherwise.)
Remember when we played mumbly peg with real knives- knives that could be used to cut hot dogs into bite size pieces for tots? How DID we ever survive? Right, OUR parents may have been careless in leaving us to learn, but THEY WEREN’T THE IDIOTS OF TODAY!!
When I think of the things I did when I was young, I’m amazed that I got to this age. If I had been my parents, I would never have allowed myself to do what I did. But I never told my parents, so it wasn’t their fault. (I even ate hotdogs.)
Bruce – the Canadian women got in trouble for drinking beer after they won. I assume the men (on both teams) will take the warning and refrain from drinking alcohol.
