I’ve looked at the moon from both sides now,
From front and back, and still somehow,
It’s Moonlight Madness I recall,
I don’t like K-Mart sales at all.
Someone else can surely do better. Warthog? You there?
I hope Joni Mitchell doesn’t read Brewster.
Little known fact: the moon “wobbles” during the lunar cycle, so it’s not exactly the same surface view through the whole month. It actually moves more than you think:
Dark side, light side, cratered face,
Like acne scars all over the place.
A teenage complexion out in space,
I’ve looked at the moon that way.
But now old friends say that I’ve been blind,
The ocean bottom more interesting
than the moon’s behind. [see note]
So I’ve been mistaken all this time
I guess NASA lead me astray.
I’ve looked at the moon from both sides now,
From front and back, and still somehow,
Its acne vulgaris I recall,
It wasn’t really green cheeeeeese
aaaaat alllllllll.
With sincerest apologies to Joni Mitchell, Ray C., and anyone else who happened to look at this.
NOTE – My best friend JMV wrote that little quip in my Carson High School yearbook, back in the 70’s. I have been waiting all these years to find a venue for it. This will have to do. Juan, where are you these days?
I can see clearly now, the moon is full,
I can see all the asteroids, what a sight,
Gone are the black holes that made me scared,
Gonna be a bright, bright moonshiny night.

Brewster is Exhibit A for how a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I fear for the moon.

Mis-labeled the “dark side”, and there are only a dozen humans who have ever seen it in person, rather than in photos.

A lesser known fact - most people on Earth are only able to see one side of each other….

“There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it’s all dark.”

You have to admit that “The Dark Side Of The Moon” was a great album! Especially when put to a laser light show at the local planetarium … Whoa!

Kinda like the TV series Space 1999.

It’s not the orbit of the moon that keeps one side toward us. It’s the rotation.

Does the man in the moon have a hole in the seat of his pants and that’s why he’s backing slowly away?

That’s pretty close to the truth, considering the humongous craters on the far side and at the South Pole.

So is the moon mooning the rest of space?
