Drove my Daughter in the opposite direction. She used to order steamed clams just because her Brother would go out and sit in the car while we ate! He could have given Petey pointers.

Yeah to a degree, there are some things I just won’t eat:: glue sticks, peas, green beans, most fuit, pizza, anything with ketchup on it , the entire McDonalds menu and liver.

Ah, that gleam of the Successful Proselytizer in Petey’s eye (panel 3)! Alice might have the best of Picky intentions, but I don’t think she could maintain the rigorous practice for very long….

I could never belong to the pickiness order. The only two things I don’t like are tomato juice and tomato soup, but I do like ketchup and tomatos.

Our tastes change as we mature age. There are many things I wouldn’t eat when I was a kid that I like now.

When I was a kid I went through phases: no eggs, then no ketchup/tomato sauce. I wasn’t strict: when a group I was with brought in McD’s burgers for us kids, I ate one despite the ketchup. I was finally seduced to the dark side when everyone was eating pizza in front of me. Mmmmm…

And now I’m going through it again with my three grand-nieces. Of course they’re out of sync: one will eat this but not that, while another will eat that but not this…

My parents grew up during the Depression, and I was a War Time child. I ate what was put in front of me, or did without. Like Retired Dude, many things I didn’t like, I learned to like. Our three kids were each given a choice of one thing they didn’t have to eat, and they all chose peas.

First time I’ve seen Petey sit up and pay attention to anything! Let alone with a half-smile!

nighthawks, I’m not a fan of horse radish sauce either, but I do like horse radish and plain old radishes.

I can’t figure out how it was that in my middle years the thought of mustard or vinegar would make me gag. Today I mainline them like I did when I was a kid!

Because there are no longer jars of paste available in the average classroom?
