So, maybe this is an arc about health care reform, not Walt’s imminent demise. At the same time, Jim can at least make us think about Walt’s age and mortality…

I’ve never in my life filled out a form that asked me if I was pregnant. Course I’m not 110 yet. The best is yet to be.

Just wait for the part where he has to list his medications. That should be good for a couple of months of daily reading.

Some things just have to be asked. Twice a week when I do my plasma thing I get some inane things:

‘Have you been in jail in the past 3 days?’ Uh, excuse me, two days ago I was here and you asked the same thing.

‘Have you been to Europe or the U.K. in the last five years….’ Uh, excuse me, See the first question.

‘Are you pregnant?’ Hello…I’m in the anti-D program, one of the requirements is to be unable to get pregnant.

With the screeners who are more familiar with me we breeze through it, like ticking the box of something you have to mark because it’s there. And when the newer ones get to the litany about smallpox I say ‘No and I’m not pregnant’. That gets a few chuckles.

While I sometimes find answering these questions a little irritating, I am also on the other side of the table and realize that if you don’t take the opportunity to update the records you can send mail to the wrong address or bill the wrong company. Obviously this update would be more efficient if you updated information that has changed but filling out an entire new form is the lazy easy way for staff.
