She’s lucky there’s a fabric store in her town. It used to be that most department stores had a fabric department, like Sears, Penney’s and Walmart, too. That all ended in the 70s when women stopped making clothes for themselves and their kids and got jobs. We have one Walmart in a neighboring town that has a fabric department but when the newer one was built nearby that ended, too. The real fabric stores, the few that exist, sell lots of craft supplies and decorative items these days, too. That’s how they can survive, I guess.
I hand piece quilt tops. Will have to live until I’m 150 to use all of my material. Wal mart here stopped selling fabric, but so much complaint they out it back. Don’t buy much there, poor quality.
Back in the day, my mother used to beg my dad to take her to the plant nursery. One day they were having a sale and Mom really wanted to go. Dad said no. That was when Mom decided to learn to drive. Whee! Mom could go any darn where she wanted!
My biggest beef with Wally World is their poor restocking practices. If i find something useful, I’d better buy a spare, ‘cause the next time I’m in the store, that item is no longer stocked. The local store offered ceramic kitchen knives for ≈ $20 ea in three sizes. It took me two trips to buy all three. It took three more trips to buy a set for Kid Sister. They’re good knives, though.
Why does Earl have to take Opal? We know Opal drives.I make my husband go with me just so I can use his teachers discount card. Joanne Fabrics won’t let ME use it.
My husband would never go to a fabric store, I don’t ask him to go to the store unless I am sick. He hates to shop unless he is out of beer and is going to watch sports, so I suggest the bar where they have the large TVs. All I know those places are loud. I go to the mall. :) and spend money.

When does Opal sew? She’s always buying fabric, but I never remember seeing her at the sewing machine.

There is NOTHING more boring than being stuck waiting for someone in a fabric store if you aren’t the looking for fabric. And I sew….

Maybe that’s where she gets her yarn for all her knitting. My mother could drive. She just didn’t like to. So my dad took her everywhere.

Wanna buy a couple of Zip drives and about thirty disks to go with them?
