    Also somewhat prescient; Woodcock wouldn’t be named the US’s first ambassador to China in 30 years until 1979.

    Not Really. The head of the US Mission in the People’s Republic of China from 1973 to 1979 was the Chief of the Liaison Office. Woodcock was the Chief of the Office from 1977 to 1979 and promoted to Ambassador in 1979 when full diplomatic relations were established.

    An under-appreciated film in my opinion. But that wasn’t Michael Keaton; it was John Pankow playing the role of Fred Melrose.
