I used to use a bamboo pole myself; people claimed that I did not know how to fish because I did not bait the hook. I never could understand where they got the idea that I wanted to catch a fish.

in the Gilchrist-drawn Nancy, “Three Rocks” is Gallatin, TN, a small town right outside of Nashville. (Also the cartoonist’s home :-)
