It seems to me that the fact the young man in question was physically attacking the policeman is being swept under the rug…

There are appropriate Police responses to having BEEN attacked. .Was this young man shot holding his hands in the air in an act of surrender?.Right now, in this moment, I pray for peace and a better life for all residents of Ferguson, MO.

Punching a police officer is punishable by death? Lynch-law is alive and well in small-town USA, with inadequates hiding behind their guns and badges.

Now you know how we feel about Fox, although Simpsons is far funnier.

It’s tough to get to the facts in a case with all the race baiters chasing money and self interest.

What I’m finding really interesting today is that nobody is talking about the appalling response of the Ferguson cops to the whole situation, including to the protests. You know, the thing at least somewhat being referred to by today’s strip. John Stewart has a compelling commentary on it, and I suggest watching it through to the end, because it just gets stronger as it goes.

It’s pretty telling, indie, that you have no comment on the strip you’re posting to. It’s also telling that your solution to people saying things you don’t like is to try to shut them up. That’s what your admitted campaign against Alcaraz and La Cucaracha has been (trying to get the comic eliminated from your local paper), and that’s what your new-found mission in life has become regarding little ol’ me. It’s sad, really, that you apparently think so little of your own ideas that rather than put them up against the ideas you disagree with in debate, you instead must silence those whose thoughts offend you. You of course are not unique in this: Exhibit A is those camo-and-gas-mask-wearing cops in Ferguson pointing their rifles at unarmed protesters.

“And by the way, why don’t you just tell us what gender you are instead playing a sick little game”

I realize that I’m really stepping in it here but once again indie, why does it matter so much to you what gender agrestic is? Have most of us who regularly participate on this forum ever said what gender we are? Have you?

My, indie, why all the—what do you call it?—viciousness? Do I really get to you so much that you’re willing to be a suicide censor? When I compared what you are doing to the Ferguson cops, I was comparing you to a bunch of guys playing soldier and doing the opposite of keeping the peace. You know, being bullies, shouting insults at protesters, arresting people who they know to be journalists, firing tear gas and wooden blocks at citizens of a town who are frankly fed up with the daily abuse they say they’ve been taking from these self-same cops for years. But again, you’ve decided to “read” what you want in exactly the opposite way of which it was clearly meant. And then, rather than stating exactly what you yourself think about the situation, you put the onus on others to tell you what they think.

Well, since you asked, I’ll tell you my “brilliant solution to protestors”: Let them protest. If you identify specific people who are being violent or destructive, arrest those specific people and get them off the street. Heck, you don’t even have to take it from me. Take it from Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, as reported by the conservative site Newsmax. He’s the fellow who coordinated military relief efforts in the aftermath of Katrina and in the process saved the situation from the compounded disaster created by “Heckuva Job Brownie.”

By-the-by: You not only don’t know my gender (how sick! Now that’s telling from you), but you also don’t know what party I belong to (if any), nor what parties I’ve ever belonged to or will in the future (again, if any). And the fact that you’re so hung up on the gender thing says quite a bit.

And if you’ve ever gone through all this strip’s comments, you’ll note that, despite your jealous wishes, I spend my time on many more folks and ideas than just you. And if you’d check my profile, you’d know that I even spend time on (gasp!) other strips besides this one. So sorry to disappoint.

All the facts aren’t in yet and there is a race based attempt to hang the cop.

Here’s a difference between you and I, indie: I never, ever have said that the Murrieta folks shouldn’t be allowed to protest. But you imply that people in Ferguson shouldn’t be allowed to do it. I didn’t say that the racist mob in Murrieta should be met by cops in tanks and military gear. And yet you think that’s the way to go in Ferguson. But hey, by bringing up Murrieta, you just help prove the point that there is a fundamental difference in how white protesters and brown protesters get treated in this country. Which is an extension of how white and brown people as a whole get treated in this country.

As for sanity, I’ll leave it up to the folks here to decide who sounds more or less so. It can be a contest!
