Nobody can know ALL about their ancestry. Consider: In 30 generations, you have about a million ancestors – and that’s allowing for a number of cousins that married.

I not only found a skeleton in our “closet” I found the whole dang bone yard! You don’t always get what you wish for and you certainly don’t get to pick your ancestors!

Just how much proof do those genealogy websites require anyway. I suspect that they are like Wikipedia, all the hype and none of the proof.

The problem of genealogy past is the lack of complete documentation. The problems of genealogy future are mobility and lack of consistent family structure.

Back in the mid/late 70s (long before ancestry.com or any .com for that matter) a distant cousin did a serious genealogy — I’m part of the 8th generation listed. She self-published a book (no stories, just names, dates and locations). Did not find any famous names.

I tried to get information on my familial history. I can only go back as far as grandparents because it goes to Eastern Europe and can’t find much from there.

I haven’t seen Drabble in Irish genealogy; and I have an Irish surname myself.
