I can understand why Facebook might do that; there are people in this world who don’t “get” satire, and they are loud about their freakouts. It might also be helpful to those people who post something horrible, then claim it was a harmless joke; they can slap on the tag to begin with.
To Wabbit and Nightgaunt who replied to my comment yesterday. You missed what my post was basically saying, ie Until a community gets together and cleans up the neighborhood, ridding the area of the scum bags nothing will change. The police can’t do it largely do to the backlash that the community gives them, as they feel the police are racist. They also will not be able to attract any businesses to their community until they stop the criminal element in they community. A good first step for the police would be the requirement for all to wear video cameras that record all interactions with the public. Many departments are doing this now.
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
So according to this, you don’t actually have to have straight-up humor to have satire (though I prefer it myself). It’s also pretty well-known that humor is in the eye (and ear) of the beholder, so what one person finds completely unfunny another person will find hilarious.

Here’s the Oxford definition:
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

As I mentioned, humor’s in the eyes and ears of the beholder, and while you personally may not find La Cucaracha funny, I and others often do.

Hence recourse to the sarcasm tag (/s) on some other web sites.
