From an old wash bay to a boutique! That’s Gasoline Alley for you!

Well, there are three ex-gas stations in my town. One is a beauty parlor (life imitates Gasoline Alley!), one a restaurant/bar (complete with lots of gas/oil advertising on the walls) and the other is a book store. Considering the town is small and has about 80 store fronts I’d say that makes them very common.

around the corner from us are two stores. One is an “outdoor outfitters” with camping gear and kayaks, and the other “dance and ballet” outfits. One door goes between them and the same person(s) run both. The husband and wife have different interests!

The former service station (it had two service bays) has gone through a variety of changes. After the owners of the station closed it down it became a discount soft drink distributor (Pop Shoppe for people who know old Canadian brands). When they closed it became a take-out pizza place. When that closed it became a low-end French restaurant which was too pretentious for the neighborhood). Finally it turned into an antique store, which is what it is today.

Sorry, that should have been “The former service station a few blocks from where I live…”

Ha! This is beginning to sound very fun and promising! Still hoping that Joel and Rufus somehow help out too, though!
