Calvin, you priced yourself out of the market.

Gestures of appreciation go only so far, Calvin.

My wife works customer service. That is so much like her customers it isn’t funny.

It’s not about money, Calvin, but still many employees feel the same way.

There’s a dog in C Kennel that wants a hug, Calvin, and I bet Mom won’t want to hug it. Take a lesson from Kenny. If it’s money you want, get muddy. Of course, you might just get a bath.

Sometimes kids do things like that because what they really want is a hug, but they’re too embarrassed to say so. Saying they want money is less embarrassing.

Calvin asked for $20 back in 1990. Adjusting for inflation, that’s the same as asking for $36 today. But the value of a big hug from his mother has not changed. It is still priceless.

I think you’re asking for a bit too much, Calvin.

Maybe he should rake leaves for people.

Sadly, too many kids confuse money with love. Was it ever thus?I can recall an old Steve Martin joke from his stand-up days: “I believe that sex is the most tender & beautiful expression of love that money can buy.”

@Number Three: I’m very sorry to hear that. We are very glad that you are here posting your comments each day. I would recommend focusing on doing some charitable work for people who are less fortunate than you are, and who are unable to pay you back. It will help them, and it will help you tremendously.

_ a big hug to customers?_
If she thought it might help, she would probably try it. Fortunately the ones that stand out are in the minority. Those that do stand out do so for a reason. Earlier this week someone didn’t get what they wanted, called her “Satan”. She was not too inclined to give that person a hug.

No surprise to discover that Calvin had an ulterior motive after all. But what I find really loathsome is when adults attempt to guilt-trip others for affection. It’s not that they’re necessarily out for personal gain, at least not materially. Yet they apparently don’t grasp that their sense of entitlement, their blatant and greedy demands for affection, only make others even more reluctant to give it.
