I remember when my kids were in that “know it all” stage…I told them to write it all down so later when they didn’t know it all, they could check their notes… :)

One of my daughters has an incredible capacity for remembering facts. The other loves to talk and comment on things. We like to say, “One knows everything; the other has an answer to everything.”

Lucy has always been anxious to show the dearth of her knowledge.

I know a family, that years ago, one of their then teenage daughters announced that she realized that morning morning she knew everything. And she was serious. She has had many difficult years since then.

For a 5-cent psychiatric visit, even in 1967, you get what you pay for. . .

Wow, I had that revelation too. I woke up one day when I was 17 and felt that I knew everything! It was a great feeling.

I’ve known a few shrinks who think they know everything. I also had a neurologist “diagnose” me before he’d even seen me. I heard him talking to a med student as I came down the hall to his office on the very first visit. He saw a foreign name and had already made up his mind that I was faking, and/or “depressed.” This was before the scans ordered by a neurosurgeon had even been run.

Turned out I’d had 2 mild strokes.

There’s a classic episode where Lucy is “teaching” a lot of nonsense to Linus, and Charlie Brown sighs, “Linus will have to go to school twice as long as everybody else, just to unlearn all the things that Lucy is teaching him!”

Interestingly, Wikipedia has proven to be more accurate than printed encyclopedias. Neither are completely accurate, and neither are completely objective, but the nature of Wikipedia is that incorrect content tends to get corrected over time, and most content has links to sources, for those who disagree or want to investigate further.
