I’ve been where you are. In 2003, the tech company I worked for slashed its workforce. I took a job as an assistant manager for a drug store — 6 days, up to 70 hours a week. I hated it but it allowed me to meet my responsibilities. Sometimes, we have to take what is available. Eventually, I landed a job in the IT department of a financial services company, a job that paid better and I enjoyed doing.

The school she “attended”—Boalt?—actually had a seat for her at that graduation. I love when he real world goes along with the fictional sometimes.

All that worry, all that stress, all that hard work. She made it.

You were lucky, lwp, nowadays that job would be as a part-time cashier.

My daughter is going through something similar..bio major… pre med. Can’t wait to see her in that chair. Go Joanie girl.
