    I was looking for some kind of cheap crap one day (I forget just what it was now) at the dollar store. While looking around I noticed that all the canned and packaged food there was beyond the expiration date. So leave that dollar store gravy on the shelf.

    How about slow-roasting a joint of beef (or any meat) and stirring flour into the juices it yields, over gentle heat, to cook the flour?
