How many remember the following grocery market PA announcement. “Explosion in aisle 6”? Those were the days. Soda in glass bottles, a hot summer day, and no AC.
Just drop any 2-liter pop bottle straight down on its cap on a concrete (or very hard) floor. It will punch out the center of the cap and BOTTLE ROCKET!
Happened down the hall in my dorm..Making wine in college, leaving the bottles to ferment, keeping them in your dorm desk, tightly capped. .Noisy, sticky & smelly.
I had a glass bottle shatter on me once. I was opening it and it dropped to the floor but seemed to be alright so I finished opening it and it fizzed up and started spreading all over the counter so I moved it to the sink but it was slippery and dropped the last couple inches and shattered, cutting my hand so I required about four stitches.

That can happen spectacularly if you stand up 2-liter soda bottles on the checkout conveyor. If one falls over in just the right way….GISH!!!!

There’s another application for the word “gish!”

Dropping a one gallon glass jug of wine on the store floor is spectacularly messy. (don’t ask)

Don’t put carbonated beverages in your thermos either, kiddo!

I remember stories my grandpa would tell of brewing beer under the porch and when one would pop the kids thinking it was a gun shot.

I seriously doubt that a cardboard box would keep the beverage carbonated.
