Hey, indieI am a latino and I enjoy this strip as well as your rants. We latinos can do political commentary, alsoand your rants empower us.

I doubt losing their income would bring them smiles. Comparing them to me is not only a contradiction but insults me; I’m no race baiter. Why are you resorting to insult?

It’s heartwarming to know I’m such an important part of your life that I show up twice in your posts today.

Anyway, there are a hell of a lot more white cops being brutal towards brown people than the other way around. It’s called a pattern. And the pattern is a racist one. But once again you’re focused on how unfair the world must be for white folks. Why is this?

As far as mentioning “beans,” you equated that with Latino cops. Why would you do this? A key lesson that comedians tend to learn is that when making fun of folks, you punch up (or sideways), not down. That is, people who are more powerful are especially unfunny and downright offensive when they make fun of folks who are less powerful. So, for instance, someone who consistently defends the white position (i.e., you), are unfunny at best and pretty much offensive by invoking the whole “beans” thing. Lalo speaks from within the community and, as a member of the community, is poking fun at the stereotype itself and therefore working to take away some of the stereotype’s power.

You may eventually learn how to be funny, but it seems that you’ve got a long row to hoe. Keep working!
