I knew it!

Old Walt’s good for another 110 years!

He probably just needed a good night’s rest - and to hear Skeezix and Corky’s voices.

I, for one, am very happy he woke up. :-))

Now maybe they’ll knock off those corny jokes.

And there I was, thinking Walt was already pitching to Babe Ruth in the Celestial Division Finals… God and the heavenly host munching corndogs in the stands… doing the wave… bottom of the ninth, bases loaded… the count is 3-2… the Babe lifts his arm, points up high over center field…

…. and here’s the pitch…

Welcome back, Walt!

OCEAN17 Babe is obviously pitching for the Sox up there because all New England know where his later team goes.

Walt’s coloring is sure good for someone who’s been in the hospital for a week, or has it just been a day in real time?

The Mets didn’t exit when Don Larson pitched his perfect game . If this weren’t a comic strip, Walt’s recovery would be a bad sign since often the “candle of life burns he brightest right before it goes out.”

Dang…what did they put in Walt’s IV drip?

I’ve been gone for a while (hospital with a heart attack) what happen to Walt that he too is in the hospital??

Reminds of about ten years ago. We were visiting my mother-in-law in the hospital after she had a stroke.

We were talking assuming she was sleeping and my wife \and father law were trying to remember where a past acquaintance worked.

She suddenly said Keebler!

Unfortunately she died about four weeks later.

Sitting at the bedside…our relatives our buddies..

Gone…

In J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Bilbo Baggins disappears from his 111th birthday party (his eleventy-first) and from the Shire, leaving the One Ring to his nephew Frodo. I predict that Walt will follow the same path basically, and retire to the old comics’ home upon his next birthday, leaving his baseball card to his nephew, Skeezix.

I believe Walt was asleep then heard them and just kept hims eyes closed rememoring good memories until the right time came to join in. That is snicky Uncle Walt. I hope you had a good rest.

I will miss commenting next week I will be recovering from rt shoulder surgery Mon. I hope I can at least read the comics I’m rt handed and I won’t want to type one handed.

Since Walt’s birth year was established as 1898 in 2001 (and in 1986, when he gave his age as 86 and Doc corrected him with “88”), his “eleventy-first” birthday would have been last year, in 2009.
