Good man, he thinks every bit as much of opera as Spike Jones and I do!

“Eleven hours later, I’m still in the durn theatre. Takin’ turns at nappin’, waitin’ for somethin’ to happen…. I hate to go back, but I can’t get my dough back…. Ain’t no use complainin’ ‘cause outside it’s a rainin’….” and so on.

Why don’t you just call here a cab, Shoe? That way, you won’t miss any of the game.

BigChiefDesoto - Hurray! Someone else who knows of Spike Jones! My grandmother used to play Spike Jones records for us when we were small kids and I collected his works later on. He was the original! Al Yankovitch owes a lot to him.

Maybe he should drop her off at the Grand old opera ..lol I have never figured out how the word opera morphed into opery and stayed that way.

Spike Jones, Spike Lee. I always get those two mixed up.

–Not really, I’m almost ROTFL whenever I heard any version of “Cocktails For Two.

BigChiefDesoto: So you like “Pal-Yat-Chee”? Have you ever heard Spike do “Besame Mucho” or “The Sheik Of Araby”? I’ve also got “Fireman Save my Child” on a disc - somewhere around here…

I’ve learned to appreciate the arts – even ballet. (Sit way up close, where you can admire the sheer strength and athleticism that goes into the dance.) But I still can’t get my head around opera.

Spike and his band were great!! Weird Al owes more to Stan Freberg than Spike, though. Perfect imitation as satire was Stan’s forte.
