Thanks for all this. I think this was actually where I started reading the comic, and I remember being impressed by the parents reminding young reporter Michael that he needed to be concerned about more than just getting a story…
So, according to you, anyone who is a writer is acting unethically if they ever base their stories or comics on actual events? Unless, of course, they give up all profits from the sale of their artistic endeavors to whomever is depicted in the story?-I hope you don’t like to read, because there will no longer be any writing if everyone has to follow those rules of yours. Most of the short stories I’ve written were inspired by actual events. I have yet to sell a story, but I never had the opportunity to contact anyone in a news article to ask permission to use any of the info in that article as the basis for a story…
