When advising a teenager how to drive always use used car with lots of dents; one more won’t matter and if priced right would be cheaper than the insurance deductable.
I always started the kids out in a local cemetery. No traffic lots of curves, a few hills. Once I felt they knew the car then we moved onto the back country roads and worked on speed control. After that, getting into traffic was ok.
@MonkeyheadDid you also point out which tombstone represented a teenager who died while operating a vehicle in a reckless manner while they were in the cemetery?

Sunday morning, 6 or 7 a.m., a better time to be teaching basic driving like stop lights. Of course, that wouldn’t be as funny.
