Roger: It's the last inning and Peter hasn't played at all. He's just sat there on the bench. The coach doesn't even look like he would consider putting Peter in the game. Does this mean what I think it means? Paige: 'fraid so, Dad. Peter: My son's in the starting pitcher rotation! Paige: I wish you wouldn't make me choke while I'm eating a hot dog.

Hooray for Peter!

I think Lewreader will miss his prediction of Peter playing, barring a deus ex machina.
EDIT: Ah. I see that’s what he suggested yesterday. Then someone else suggested that he’d be disappointed by the cartoon logic of this arc, on the basis of having seen the story before.
Figures. Against the First Law of Cartoon Physics (“Only When It’s Funny”), even a deus ex machina must bow.

Roger Fox is like an Egyptian Pharaoh: king of denial.

JOHANAN Even though my Boston team is tied with the Cubs,I still have hope that the sky will open, a giant ray of sunshine will appear, an impressive voice will boom, “There are things even I can’t do!”

I don’t think it’s denial … I think Roger is dense as a tree stump.

@Lewreader: Well, if I were to have a hope as grandiose as that, at least I’d hope for that impressive voice to say, “Let (Team X) win? Sure, why not?” :))

On the news awhile back there was a basketball team where home team was playing against visitors. Well one of the teams playing wasn’t doing great and the other wiped them out. Made big news where the public watching protested saying the coach should of had his team ease up some to let the other earn some points to make the game fun. The coach did get fired over that. Then another group the coach did just that and both side had a great game and coach was hailed a hero for this coach had a teach that was doing great. Just told his group just work like your practicing. His team did win but not to embarrass the other team that did bad.

If Peter’s team is winning, the coach might put him in the game. That’s what I always did.
