Another reason to do away with early voting and require photo id, or have early voting on a secure gov website which requires the drivers license or photo id number to vote. It’s not like people don’t know the date months in advance to get off work if that’s the case. Im surprised states don’t provide a photo id but then again alot of politicians want people to cheat the process.
Texas doesn’t provide free IDs; that’s why Ginsberg dissented from the ruling allowing their voter ID law last week — she opined that requiring people to pay a fee to obtain an ID in order to vote was the same as a poll tax. The full court allowed the law; the conservatives because they agreed with it and two of the liberals because they stated they didn’t believe in changing voting laws immediately before an election.
