It is one thing to make suggestions to your child; however, interfering with their coaching is another. As an adult figure skater, I have seen that many times. Too often parents butt it and undermine the child’s training.
Elly doesn’t differ from many sports fans who may not have played a particular game, but still have a lot of opinions. Any time a quarterback throws and is intercepted, tons of opinions are heard in the stands (and in bars and living rooms all over the US).
What Ellie said was mild compared to what I’ve heard parents YELL across the rink at the kids. I’m a Zamboni driver & a woman. Our canteen attendants are 1 male and 1 female.
I really don’t think that’s what @argy.bargy2 was saying. argy.bargy was noting that there are a ton of opinionated sports fans, that sports fans in fact tend to be opinionated about sports, and was simply using US football fans as an example. No exclusion was implied, by my reading.
MAD Magazine joke about Little League:A mom asks the coach about his staff.Coach: I have one team manager, two assistant coaches…Looks over at one kid who looks lost thanks to multiple dads yelling at himCoach:…and 80 third base coaches!Dad #1: Keep a foot on the bag!Dad #2: Run!Dad #3: Stay where you are!Dad #4: Head for home plate!Dad #5: Go back to second!

Elly must watch a lot of hockey games on Canadian TV… how else would she know what to say to Michael re: his skating?! ;)

Her advice sounds okay to me, but maybe it’s a bit much for a kid to process at one time. How about doling out half of that next time?

If Elly’s a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, she won’t have much good reference in how to skate.
