Transcript:
Eddie: Cuco, I'm not sure what you're trying to do here... This look doesn't say "thanks" or "giving." But it does remind me of Halloween. Cuco: If it makes you feel better, they're not really dusted with smallpox, it's pixie stick dust! Sign: Free smallpox infested blankets

You don’t actually know that he doesn’t. Do you spend much time with folks dealing with diseases yourself? If so, what have your experiences been like?
In any case, this strip is making a historical point. One that resonates pretty strongly with Native Americans. Some of whom, no doubt, regret that whole helping-the-early-European-immigrants thing.

Mr. Lalo Alcaraz you really should research you stories before you spread old false lies origially published by Ward Churchill an ethics professor at the University of Colorado. See the analysis at: http://quod.lib.umich.edu/p/plag/5240451.0001.009/—did-the-us-army-distribute-smallpox-blankets-to-indians?rgn=main;view=fulltext

Lies? The accounts of smallpox infested blankets are a matter of public recdrd and there are stories of them from both the native americans and the army. Perhaps you should remember that there are many so called professionals who are funded by special interest groups whose goal is to rewrite American history to clean it up, I.e., the Heritage Foundation ans so forth. Open you eyes and check multiple sources before accepting the white wash from the Geobbels groups.

Regardless of the smallpox infested blankets, Geronimo was really treated badly and the Trail of Tears is a shame. The mistreatment of the American native population lasted well into the late 1890’s.

Doesn’t indiethink have anything better to do? Does he have a template from which to cut and paste? Geez.

@sueamarlucan, so if some behave badly it is OK to behave worse then?

and deflect attention away from himself as the innocent messenger
I don’t think he shies away from attention as a messenger at all. In fact, by bringing the message he gets a lot of flack from people like you. So how do you come by the idea that he’s deflecting attention from himself?
he ignores the carnage going on down there right now
Except that he doesn’t. See, for instance, this political cartoon about the massacre in Ayotzinapa:
as a cheerleader for Mexico
There’s a difference between cultural pride and support of a government or even tragic current events. Please point out any cheerleading that Alcaraz has done for the Mexican government. Please demonstrate that he doesn’t criticize certain elements of Mexican society. Oh, wait, we just disproved that latter one with both yesterday’s strip and the image I posted above.
That’s why I found his treatment of the Day of Dead’s fascination with skulls and bones so unfathomable, when they are digging up huge graves filled with skeletons.
Funny, you didn’t mention that at the time. This sounds to me like you’ve retroactively come up with an argument about Day of the Dead. As a matter of fact, during your objections then, you wrote diatribes against the whole celebration, calling it uncivilized—but you did not mention atrocities in Mexico.
If he wants to make grotesque statements like today, the family funnies page isn’t the place to do it.
This is stuff they teach in many grade schools now. Are you saying that children should only be exposed to positive messages at all times? What would be the age where you think they could deal with the complexities of life?

It worked for the Europeans vs. the “Injuns.”
