All I smell is cold and mildew, maybe I should move to California for some dry air while it lasts.

The Voices in the Winds of Fall..The days grow chilly, brisk and shortBright colored leaves fall from the treesInside I sit and listen to the voices veiled within the breeze. The voices sing of days gone byOf seasons past and long agoI sit and hear and reminisce carried back as breezes blow.Remember when, remember whenThe voices sing and call to meThink back, think back, of autumns gone, look to the past; see what you see.As I sit warm and safe indoorsI think with fondness of beforeOf fire-colored leaves that make a carpet bright on Nature’s floor.Of sweaters warm and thick and softOf chilly walks in sweet twilightOf ducks and geese all heading south to fly away from winter’s bite.New memories are being madeAs I sit and remember allI know next year I’ll also hear the Voices in the Winds of Fall..© “Amalthea Celebras” K.C. I still love the smell of autumn! It’s always been my favorite season.

A few weeks ago I started and adult education class and the smell of the school building instantly too me back to my school days about fifty years ago.

The sense of smell was one of the first senses evolved in animals. It is a very primitive sense and it is connected to the most basic part of the brain. Certain smells and certain memories are inseparable.

And, probably, just as smoggy, too. I remember when San Jose was a small city, with lots of crop fields & orchards surrounding it!

My best memory trigger is the smell of Jet A exhaust.
