Just trying to keep him alive so he can pay off what Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43 racked up while in office.

    TROUT - Great post.

The rest of us have to keep reminding ouselves that the Conservatives and the GOP doesn’t really care about the National Debt, they just want to use it as another Fear & Anger Point.

Reagan replaced Tax & Spend (which is what a Country has to do to provide the services it’s citizens want and need) with spend & spend, Bush Sr tried to keep it up (Read My Lips), and Bush Jr didn’t care, and now we owe billions and billions to China (1.6 mil a day in interest alone) and people like Stantis want to blame it all on the DEMS and Obama.

I, for one, am relieved to see dtroutma return to the tried-and-true “Oh yeah? Well, YOUR guys were WAY worse! So there!” style of retort. After seeing a few posts which strayed from that strategy, I was beginning to worry that body snatchers had invaded.

“I can always count on the two of you to keep pushing lies, covering up the ever growing mountain of debts that I have created in only a single year and which I have many, many more programs to increase that debt!

1.75 trillion dollars, it’s not exactly nothing. Then again, the previous year the debt increased by 1.47 trillion… and the crisis didn’t even start until mid-year! If O’s spending is a mountain, it sure had some impressive foothills.

I’m waiting for the deficit hawks to say something about allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire. These babies cost around 250 billion per year, and their effect has been quite dubious - in fact the CBO study (http://cbo.gov/ftpdocs/106xx/doc10682/11-30-ARRA.pdf) showed that as far as the stimulus went , the direct investment proved more effective than tax cuts.

“Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter. ” Dick Cheney

$8 of the $10 trillion deficit is due to GOP President’s. You cannot trade tax and spend with borrow and spend and not up the deficit.

We’re only 6 month into the first “Obama budget year”. Not understanding how the federal fiscal year works is only one of the many errors filled knowledge base of those who call any facts- “lies”. There IS a difference between spending money to save money, and spending money to buy your friends bigger yachts- as we had under “Reaganomic theory”.

All of te largest economies in the world carry enourmous amounts of debt http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/ecodebext_percap-economy-debt-external-per-capita

Most major companies also take on a lot of debt.

I dont see what that proves.

Why is it OK to run huge deficits to build bombs and finance Latin American death squads but it’s not OK to do so to cure sick people?
